The V10 Touareg TDI had DPF (except for 2004) but no Adblue. Ultra low sulfur diesel ULSD was the key in the clean diesels - older fuels can clog the exhaust filters. Because the reduction in sulfur is 97%, it gives you an idea of how dramatic the change was. All new Audi TDI and VW TDI have DPF.
You have to remove it, and you will need compressed air and a shop vac with VERY good suction. You have to force air in to the DPF opposite exhaust flow, with a vacuum attached to the other end, sealed. Turn the vacuum on, and blast the compressed air through the DPF. It will blow out some soot and ash, but the metallic ash may not dislodge.

I haven't ordered my kit yet but you may experience longer warm up times due to the EGR delete. Longer warm ups are guaranteed. I can't say mine is that noticeably different. I haven't had any super cold days yet, just lower teens for temperature but car still say outside all night and warms up relatively fast.

rGkDDI. A general comment about the DPF 'Bogie Man', if its not really suitable for suburban use, why would VW build the new Polo with a diesel engine, a car aimed 100% at school runs and nipping to the shops. In order to meet the tough euro polution limits the Polo must have a dpf as well.
Running a higher bio-blend is ok, even running B100, but keep in mind you'll need to change your oil more often. Also with the DPF gone, 507 oil is no longer required since the main difference between 505 and 507 is the reduction in ash to protect the DPF. Also I found this in the TDI FAQ section:
The 3.0 TDI VW Phaeton also did not have a DPF present until around 2005 /6, at the point it was offered in the Touareg (all 3.0tdi Touaregs have a DPF, the early 2.5TDI models don’t). The best, most reliable VW Diesel Engines are by far the 130bhp PD engine, and very early 90bhp – 130bhp TDI engines, but these are getting rare.
I have a 2009 Jetta Sportwagen TDI with 127K miles. I keep reading about how to measure the load on the DPF with VAG-COM, which I have done. Here is the output: 17:09:27 Group 099: Diesel Particle Filter. 828 /min Engine Speed (G28) 162.0°C Temperature prior Turbo Charger. 126.0°C Temperature prior Particle Filter.
Some DPF's have failed early, been replaced, failed again. I suggest manufacturing defects. A light bulb operates many years on a car. We've had 100 years to perfect it. The DPF is fairly new tech, VW makes them to spec as engineered, however, reliability is a crap shoot without long term testing and experience.
does my vw have a dpf
