Oct 22, 2010. #3. there are good and bad with every manufacturer but the benefit you have with a lr is the parts prices are very reasonable. if you keep it well serviced/maintained it should be a good car and theres lots of help on here if you should run into trouble.
The 300Tdi engine is a 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a power rating of 90 horsepower (67 kW) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.
Ignition switch at position III, engine cranking and starts, volts drop to 9.5V or so then increases back up to 11.4v once starts and key back at position II but after several seconds the same clunk and the volts rises to around 14v as I presume the alternator charge kicks in. Seems strange.
Land Rover Defender engines. Land Rover Defenders built in different years used different engine models. A list of them follows. See the manufacturer site for details. Land Rover Defender 110: The 110 model was initially sold in 1983 with 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines. A small number of 110s used a 3.2-litre V8 engine.

LR used plastic dowels to marry the

Run a live feed to the fuel solenoid on the pump. If it fires and runs and seems ok then there is a power feed problem. If that does not work, remove the solenoid, see if it runs then. Other than that, a sensor such as needle lift, crank or maf/map etc won't cause a non start condition, it will cause low power though.
i have an an issue with the fuel cut off on my 300tdi. 10 days ago the engine wouldn't turn off so tested everything & then removed the solenoid and found the rubber part of the plunger had a chunk missing. Ordered new part and fitted and all was well again. Today, the same has happened to the new solenoid, a piece missing off the rubber
